Privacy Terms Community Guidelines
Short version: we collect what we need to run your account and let you debate — your email, whatever profile details you choose to add, and the takes/votes/notes/reports you post. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your email address and password — handled by our authentication provider (Supabase), used to sign you in and, if you ask us to, reset your password or delete your account.
  • Profile details you choose to add — display name, handle, university/school, bio, and any other fields you fill in on your profile. All optional beyond a display name.
  • Content you post — takes, votes, reactions, notes, room creations, and reports. This is the substance of the platform, and other users can see most of it (see "What's public" below).
  • Basic technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) kept for security and abuse prevention, not for tracking you around the web.

What's public

Your display name, handle, profile bio, the takes you post, and your public Noted page are visible to other users by default. Your email address is never shown to other users. If you create a room, its prompt, name, and member count are visible to anyone who has the join code (or to everyone, if you mark it public).

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your personal data to anyone.
  • We don't run third-party advertising or ad-tracking on this site.
  • We don't share your data with third parties except the infrastructure providers that run the site (currently Supabase for the database/auth, and our hosting provider) — both bound by their own standard data-processing terms.

Moderation and safety

To keep the platform usable, posts pass through automated checks (a rate limit and a word filter) before they're saved, and anyone can report a post for a moderator to review. Reports are only visible to platform admins. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate our Community Guidelines.

Your choices

You can edit or remove most of your profile details at any time from your profile page. To request a full copy of your data, or to request that your account and its data be deleted, email us at hello@contraversus.com — we'll action it as quickly as we reasonably can.

Under-18 users

We know secondary school and sixth-form students may use this platform. We don't knowingly collect more information from younger users than from anyone else, and the same rules above apply to everyone. If you're a parent or guardian with a concern about a young person's account, contact us at the email above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after a change means you accept the update.

A note on this document

This policy was written to be plain and honest about what actually happens on this platform today — it is not a substitute for legal advice. If you're relying on this for a formal launch, especially given under-18 users, it's worth having it properly reviewed by a solicitor before you rely on it.
